How Can I be Saved?

Some may answer that question by saying being good is the way to be saved. They believe their salvation is earned through works. While others may consider other things such as family or church membership as the way they can be saved. However, the Bible clearly teaches that a person is saved by grace through faith and not by their works (Eph. 2:8). The following verses will help you understand how you can be saved.

First, we need to see the need for salvation
Romans 3:23; "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." The word all, in this verse emphasizes that everyone has sinned and therefore needs salvation. Have you sinned?
Romans 6:23; "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." This verse further indicates the need for salvation. God will punish sin and that punishment is destruction. If you are spiritually lost you will be judged by God. God does not want to condemn you. That is why He offers you the gift of salvation.

How can you receive this gift of salvation?
Romans 10:9-10; "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." The first thing you must do is confess your sins unto the Lord. This confession must be from a heart that sincerely desires salvation. The next thing that must be done is to believe in the power of God that raised Jesus from the grave can also save you and change your life. There is no life that can't be changed by the power of God.

The door of salvation is open to anyone that is willing to come in and receive God's gift. All you need to do is pray and ask God to forgive you and come into your heart and life. He will answer your prayer and you will have a life changing experience with Jesus. God has promised us in Romans 10:13: "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." God has promised you salvation if you will only have faith and ask Him to save you. Will you please pray and ask God to forgive you for your sins and save you today? If so then you can pray the following prayer.

Prayer: "Dear Lord Jesus I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and that you arose from the grave. I now ask you to forgive me for my sins and to save my soul today."

Jesus was not ashamed to die on the cross for your sins. Will you be ashamed to confess Him publicly? In Mark 8:38, Jesus warned us if we are ashamed of Him, then He also will be ashamed of us. You can begin to make a public stand for Him now by uniting with a local church and by being baptized. Baptism is a public confession of what you have experienced though Jesus. Are you willing to make your stand for Jesus?
